Sony Recalls 440000 Notebook Computers

Sony Inc. said the recall involves 19 models in the Sony Vaio TZ series manufactured between May 2007 and July 2008. It said that 373,000 of the notebooks were sold in 48 countries, including the USA, and the remaining 67,000 in Japan.

Asustek Computer has cautioned consumers against using third-party batteries with its Asus Eee PCs, and warns that it will not cover hardware damage due to the use of a non-certified battery under warranty.
